Results

I got my results back for my retest for celiac a few weeks ago. And I was shocked when it came back negative.

I was sure, SURE, it would be positive and that I was going to be back on the gluten free train. I was ready. But, crazily enough, it came back negative. So being gluten free will never be something I need to worry about again. Turns out, all the problems I was having really were all linked to my gall bladder and have since been eradicated since the little bugger's removal in 2012.

I do breathe a bit of a sigh of relief that I do not need to worry that either of my kids will have celiac. They were my motivating factor to get retested. Not that being gluten free is the end of the world, but I dreaded them having to go through all the sickness that inevitably comes with living gluten free in a gluten-filled world.

I'm not sure what will happen to the old blog, here. I might change her into just a personal blog. A lot has changed for me in the past few years of blog-silence. I went back to work. I moved out of state. I became a stay at home mom again. I had a second child (another boy!) I went back to school. Things are crazy. But they are crazy in the best way possible.

New Chapter and A Fresh Start

Here we go. (Again)

A bit of a fresh start is needed for this ol' gal. For many reasons. Let's just jump right into it, shall we?

I'm currently in the waiting period to hear back on blood tests that will either confirm a previous diagnosis of celiac disease or well...not.

A while back, after some gall bladder complications, I decided I wanted to retest for celiac to rule out the possibility that said ornery gall bladder could have been my problem all along. To do so, I had to do a gluten "challenge," which basically meant I got to eat with wild and reckless abandon. Then they would rerun my blood work.

Fast forward to 3 years (and SO! MANY! OREOS!) later. Oooops.

So. Here we go. Again. A week-ish or so from now I could be navigating the gluten free waters once again. And it seems A LOT has changed in the time I've been gone. It's a whole new learning experience to be had out there.
